Wenn es ein echtes Outdoor-Handy sein darf, dann führt kein Weg vorbei am Sonim XP3 Enduro. Das Handy wiegt stolze 162 Gramm, dessen Gehäuse dafür aus einem Hartgummi und robustem Kunststoff gefertigt ist. Der Akkudeckel ist beim Sonim XP3 Enduro fest verschraubt und ähnlich wie man es von der guten MacLite kennt, mit einem Dichtungsring gegen Staub und Wasser geschützt. Dabei hält es dem Wasser bis zu einem Meter Tiefe stand. Das Gehäuse zeigt sich resistent gegen Staub, Schmutz und Salz und hält auch Temperaturen von -20 bis +60 Grad aus.
Das tut das Sonim XP3 Enduro nicht ohne Grund, denn mit diesen Eigenschaften entspricht es der US-Amerikanischen Militärnorm MIL-810F und IP-57. Hier dient zudem eine kleine LED als Taschenlampe und extra laute Klingeltöne erschrecken hier auch Taube. Das Handy selbst ist dabei auf das Telefonieren und Versenden von SMS hin ausgerichtet. Für den richtigen Outdoor-Eisnatz hält das Handy aber dann auch eine Halteschale mit Hosenbund- bzw. Gürtelhalter bereit.
Leider ist die Sende- und Empfangsqualität dabei nicht unbedingt die Beste, dafür glänzt das Sonim XP3 Enduro aber bei der Ausdauer. Neun Stunden Gesprächzeiten mögen den ein oder anderen hart Gesottenen noch nicht aus der Fassung bringen, aber knapp ein Monat Standby, dass muss man erst einmal nachmachen.
Halt ein Militärhandy, denn im Einsatz- und Kriegsgebiet kann man nicht eben mal schnell an die Steckdose gehen um das Handy aufzuladen.
